Message from the President
As promised in January, the Boston MetroWest Chapter of
the BDPA signed a Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) with EMC Black EMC
Affinity Group (BEAG) and the Northeastern Black Engineering Student
Society (BESS). With these agreements, the Chapter is beginning to work
on specific implementation plans for these agreements. I will provide a
summary of our implementation plan when they become finalize.
I represented the Chapter by participating in the Youth
Empowerment Summit (YES) conference sponsored by Carole Copeland Thomas.
Computer workshops were created and implemented on 16 February, with
about 80 students from the local schools. Also the chapter, represented
by myself and Danna Sturdivant, spoke to over twenty High School kids at
a conference sponsored by BESS, about the High School Computer
Competition coming in July. As a result, we got several students
interested in participating.
At our
February Program meeting we had Dr. William Tiga Tita present the topic
“Impact of Electronic Commerce on Globalization- lessons learned in
managing emerging markets' distance learning programs". In March, we
will have a presentation by Joel Sapp on the topic "Social Networking
and Collaboration at Work".
In closing, I am asking everyone to:
·
Renew your membership or
·
Join our chapter and
·
Volunteer to help with our programs and Events
·
Encourage more corporate sponsors
I hope to meet everyone soon!
